From my own experience in implementing punishment haircuts for Judith many years ago I can advise that they are a very effective punishment. In Judith's case she had been punished for some time but was still failing to be as obedient and respectful as required so I added a punishment haircut to her list of sanctions. I made her sit in her school uniform with her shoulder length hair undone and placed a shallow pudding bowl on her head before simply clipping around it with a pair of kitchen scissors. This left her hair cut just above the top of her ears and I then cut her fringe back to her hairline at the front before using some clippers to shave it back a further half linch so that her forehead was completely bare. She cried for some time when she saw herself in the mirror. It was obviously deeply humiliating for her and even more so when going to work and attending Church. Her hair was kept in this manner for years and I know that she has had a similar punishment applied again. I have suggested to Rachel's mother that a punishment haircut would be appropriate for her as she has beautiful long red hair. Currently she has to wear it in a ponytail or bun but I have suggested that as a minimum she should wear her hair in childish bunches or pigtails or preferably either have it cut shorter perhaps not as severe as Judith's was at least to begin with and/or dye it a plainer colour such as mousy brown or even grey. I am sure this would make her improve her behaviour as she very much needs to. Judith's Aunt

DeleteI think a punishment haircut is a marvellous idea for keeping a disobedient young woman in check! I like all your suggestions for Rachel. Bunches or pigtails would go very well with her school uniform. A short pixie cut perhaps would also work as well, particularly on an older woman who probably wouldn't choose that style for herself. Re-coloring her hair is also a wonderful idea. It's essential that self-regarding women like Rachel don't get ideas above their station don't you think? Changing her hair colour from her current 'look at me' red to a mousey, nondescript brown might well do the trick.

These are very, very good. Having two arrogant, entitled young women like these two being "placed in service" is a great idea on its own. But the added cruelty of having their luxurious, expensively coiffured hair being shorn as well is diabolically great.

ReplyDeleteWhat could be more de-identifying for a woman than the loss of her hair - including eyebrows - that once served as a source of her feminine self-identity and pride. Crudely shorn, once soft, flowing locks treated with caustic chemicals to transform the soft flow into a brittle, unattractive tangle. Each view of her reflection a reminder of her inferior, unworthy, unappealing status.

ReplyDeleteUnfortunately whilst Rachel is complying with her restrictions and was at home grounded when we arrived and dressed in a long dress at all times and grey wool V-neck cardigan and long well below knee length grey wool cardigan with a large collar and with her hair in a ponytail, she has clearly not learned the necessary lessons nor accepted that she is deserving of the punishments.
She received a thorough maintenance spanking from her mother dressed in a green gingham school dress, ankles socks and brown wool school cardigan with a vest and traditional bottle green school knickers to complete her humiliation. She was sent to bed at 5 pm on Saturday dressed in a worsted nightgown. However she is till too arrogant even when attending Sunday service in a modest long dress and cardigans. We decided therefore following this review (which we agreed we would do at month end) that Rachel is to have her punishment increased. In addition to her existing punishments the following are being applied. She will wear a school vest and traditional school knickers at all times including to work. She will be wearing a wool dress, wool beret and wool mittens in addition to the two cardigans already assigned for all Church attendance including Bible Class and cleaning rota as well as services. She is to receive 8 strokes of the cane every Sunday morning across her bare behind before attending Church. The thing which appeared to have the most instant impact upon her was that her attitude and behaviour will be reviewed every two weeks and if it is not exemplary she will have six inches cut from her lovely long red hair. To ensure she understood this was no joke she lost the first six inches yesterday after she had received 12 strokes of the strap across her bare behind for he continuing misbehaviour. She had to sit on a stool on her freshly strapped behind whilst her mother cut six inches off the back iof her hair in the kitchen. She was then made to get on her knees and sweep up the cut hair with a dustpan and brush and place it in the bin. She was in tears throughout. I warned her that if misbehaviour continued and her hair reached above collar length the next step would be a pudding basin cut and shaved back fringe. At this she started crying again and prmising to be good and obedient. Hopefully this will be the start of the improvement in her attitude and acceptance of he punishment we are hoping for. ReplyDeleteYes Rachel has to keep her cardigans fully buttoned when attending Church and when in school uniform. She is permitted have her cardigans undone when at home and at work. My sisters says her behaviour has improved following her punishment haircut and her first review will be this coming weekend. I have advised my sister that unless Rachel's behaviour has been astonishing she should cut another six inches of her hair. This will make sure she recognises her need to comply, accept her punishment and learn to be thankful for the discipline she has been given or that she will soon find herself with very short hair. ReplyDeleteRachel was very upset when despite her improved behaviour my sister decided that she would forfeit a further six inches of her beautiful red hair in front of other family members on Sunday. She begged not to have her hair cut so my sister wisely imposed further discipline upon her for this misbehaviour. She lost nine inches rather than six of her hair and in future she will forfeit a further nine inches (rather than six every Sunday) until her behaviour is as it should be. In addition her caning every Sunday has been increased from eight to twelve strokes. As punishment she is being sent to bed every night this week no later than 7 pm with her mouth soaped and her bottom spanked. Next Sunday she will be attending Church in a suitably childish set of woollen garments with her hair in a childish style. My sister snet her to bed early after caning her, soaping her mouth and spanking her in front of members of our family who were present including Judith. Judith's Aunt
ReplyDeleteMay I suggest that when this young lady is in her childish Sunday Best for Chapel next Sunday that you further enforce the lesson of her childish position to her by having her hold her finger to her lips at all times unless given permission to speak and that for the whole she must ask permission to use the toilet. I make use of these sanctions on my student daughters for any disrespectful or disobedient misbehaviour during their university vacations.

ReplyDeleteI would like to thank-you for your suggestions to further Rachel's correction. My sister is well aware of the value of your suggested toilet discipline as I used it for many years with Judith and Judith has been subject to such a sanction for most of the past year as part of the stiffening of her conditions following her misbehaviour a year ago. The young lady who has taken over Judith's supervision from Rachel has enforced the extra measures on Judith very effectively and Judith's behaviour is very obedient and meek. For the past year she has had to wear two wool cardigans at all times as part of her uniform, attend Church every Sunday back in schoolgirl uniform, received 12 strokes of the cane every Sunday morning, returned to being allowed only a Bible in her room and having to ask permission when she wishes to use the toilet except when using her bucket when confined to her room at night. She has not been spared and humiliation in having to ask permission to use the toilet. She has to raise her hand and stand in silence until permitted to speak and then must ask permission to go for a "wee wee" or "wee and poo poo" as she needs. She has had to do this in front of our family and on occasion in public after Sunday Service at the Parish Rooms. It has made her very meek indeed in her attitude and respectful of her new supervisor and employer. Her conditions are to be reviewed shortly after Christmas so I will be interested to see if she can maintain her exemplary behaviour and whether her new supervisor believes this merits any reduced strictness in her conditions or if she decides that since these new strictures have improved Judith's behaviour that they should remain in place. I would agree with you that perhaps even a short period of this childish and humiliating sanction for Rachel might help a more rapid correction in her attitude although losing some of her beautiful red hair does appear to working.
